Our team is scattered across the globe. With team members living from Missouri and Florida, to even Florence, Italy, coming together is never an easy feat. When the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection invited us for an opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to experience three days on their Ilma yacht, The Travel Maestro team didn’t hesitate. It was the perfect chance to experience a seamless luxury adventure while connecting as a team, and we quickly discovered that life aboard Ilma moves at a rhythm all its own.
Stepping aboard Ilma in San Juan is a moment that instantly signals a shift from the everyday. The yacht feels modern yet intimate, polished yet relaxed. Settling into our suites, each with a private terrace, we immediately felt the sense of calm that comes from being fully taken care of. We were welcomed with a bottle of Moët in our rooms, and then reunited the team on the top deck of the yacht. There was a welcome band, cocktails, and so many foods to try.
As the yacht sailed away in the evening from San Juan, the city slowly receding behind us, we toasted the start of our journey with champagne. Dinner that evening was elevated but effortless. It was an introduction to the understated luxury that would define our time at sea. By nightfall, it was clear: this was a journey designed to allow you to move at your own pace, free from the usual stress of travel.
Virgin Gorda: Dramatic Landscapes, Island Adventure, and Rosewood Little Dix Bay
We awoke anchored off Virgin Gorda, greeted by the soft morning light and a rainbow on the horizon! There was a calm stillness of the Caribbean Sea, yet though that would change throughout the day. Arriving early allows guests to enjoy the island before it becomes busy, and the experience immediately felt personal and private.
A private roundtrip transfer with Island Vibe Destinations brought us to The Baths, where enormous granite boulders, natural pools, and winding passages create one of the Caribbean’s most dramatic landscapes. The team did find ourselves drenched under the Caribbean rainshowers, Walking through these iconic formations felt cinematic, and the pace allowed us to truly savor the moment.
Our adventure continued with a visit to Rosewood Little Dix Bay, one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated resorts. Experiencing the property on a day visit offered a rare, intimate perspective: the design blends effortlessly into the landscape, the beaches are serene, and every detail feels intentional.
Lunch overlooking the crescent-shaped bay was unhurried and rejuvenating, a perfect balance to the morning’s exploration. It was a reminder of why combining yacht travel with iconic Caribbean resorts creates such a compelling travel experience. For travelers considering a longer Caribbean journey, a day visit to Little Dix Bay paired with Ilma provides the ideal mix of movement, comfort, and destination luxury.
St. John: Unspoiled Beauty and Freedom of Choice
The following morning brought us to St. John, where unspoiled green hills and protected national parklands greet guests as the yacht approaches the shore. Ilma’s flexible itinerary allows each traveler to choose their own pace: whether exploring Cruz Bay, relaxing on a secluded beach, or simply soaking in the serenity aboard the yacht.

This freedom of choice is one of Ilma’s defining qualities. The ability to curate your own day while still enjoying the full luxury service of the yacht is what elevates this experience from a simple cruise to a truly bespoke journey. The team had so much time spending time together snorkeling and relaxing on its shores.
Life Onboard Ilma: Intimate, Effortless, and Complete
Mornings begin the way they’re meant to be: coffee on the terrace and breakfast at your choice, whether that be in your room or at a restaurant. Afternoons are leisurely and unstructured, and evenings flow naturally into intimate dining and sunset reflections. The yacht feels intimate, and the service team strikes that rare balance of being attentive yet invisible.

Returning to the yacht after a full day ashore feels seamless. One of the joys of Ilma is the continuity. That means no repacking, no transit stress, just the quiet pleasure of returning to your floating home.
Evenings onboard are built for reflection and connection: sunset cocktails on the terrace, soft lighting throughout the yacht, and dinners that feel both intimate and celebratory. The design of Ilma encourages both conversation and quiet moments, striking a perfect balance for a romantic getaway, groups, and teams alike.
In just three nights, we experienced more than a typical week-long trip on land: adventure, serenity, luxury, and connection all in a concentrated, effortless experience. It is a journey that leaves a lasting impression without leaving you exhausted.
A Short Journey That Feels Immense
Our three nights aboard Ilma reminded us that luxury travel is not defined by length but by quality, rhythm, and intention. Iconic destinations, thoughtful pacing, and intuitive service combine to create an experience that feels both effortless and deeply memorable.
